The Horse Poop List contains the names of elected representatives that
support horse slaughter for human comsumption in the United States.
Let's make sure they are not re-elected!
Trent Loos, NE
Mr. Loos Lips is an "agricultural activist" who actually has his own
radio show to spread his Pro-slaughter propaganda.
Because he worked in the hog and beef industry, he has lumped horses
into his "meat on the hoof" philosophy.
Says "I am truly concerned about the future of mankind when 84% of all
American pet owners consider themselves "pet parents."
Thinks a great way to control the mustang population is if we allowed hunting
of them.
Trent staged an unsuccessful rally in Springfield, IL recently and passed
out stick horses to children to convince them that horse slaughter is the
right thing to do. Most of the children gave them back. Even kids are
smarter than an old farmer from Illinois.
Sen. Glen Hegar, TX
One of the biggest ways for a Senator to lose support and trust within the
Senate Chambers is to propose an amendment, but not be clear and forthcoming
about its purpose, especially during the closing days of the legislative
session. His fellow Senators won't tolerate this and don't have time for such
nonsense. Senator Hegar lost his political good will with his sneaky trick,
trying to slip in language to allow horse slaughter!
Rep. Betty Brown, TX
TX Rep. "Bloody" Betty Brown stated on the Texas House Floor on May 24, 2003,
"..and the question now is, do we want the animals rights people to set ag
policy for our State from now on? Or do we want the people that are involved in
agriculture and agriculture related industry in our State who deal with this
issue all the time and know the most about it, for them to make the decisions
about the future of ag policy in our State."
Rep. Bob Goodlatte, VA
Who does Bob REALLY represent??
When discussing the bill that would ban horse slaughter, Bob Goodlatte said:
"This bill is not good for horses, and it's not good for horse owners,"
On June 15th, 2004, after a luncheon address in Roanoke Virginia, Bob Goodlatte
was asked how he could maintain that horse abuse would increase if slaughter were
outlawed, given the statistics in California and Illinois. In those states abuse
decreased in the absence of slaughter. And in Texas, which had both one of the
highest abuse rates in the country, and the only two operating horse slaughter
plants during 2003. To this Mr. Goodlatte replied "I can't comment, I have not
looked at the statistics."
On June 28th, 2004, an angry crowd asked Bob what it would take to get him to let
HR-857 out of his committee, and he simply replied "You have to convince me and
you have not done that." This statement was made in the face of a poll showing
Virginia residents favor the ban by 3 to 1!

Congressman Charles Stenholm, TX
More concerned with foreign culture than American culture, Charles Stenholm
stated, "I do not believe it is my position to say that it should be illegal in
all cultures and that people who depend on horsemeat for daily food should be
denied it."
He has also stated, "First, HR857 (the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act)
will not prevent a single horse from being killed and disposed of..."
Suzanne Wilcox, DVM, Hubbard, OH
She works for Diamond Ridge Equine. Dr. Sue, who seems to have forgotten her
Veterinary oath, says, "Just say no to HR 857". Click

Tarleton State University in Stephenville, TX.
The university offers agriculture, pre-vet courses, and therapeutic horseback
riding and equine breeding programs. The university accepts donated horses,
then resells some and uses others. When the horses are no longer useful,
they're shipped to Beltex.
"We don't sell them at auctions," said Dr. David Snyder, director of the animal
health department. "It's too much stress on the animal. We are upfront with
donors that we can take the animal to slaughter and put the money into our
programs."
Donna Ewing, founder and president of the Hooved Animal Rescue and Protective Society
To say her name in the same sentence with the words "Animal protection" is a sick joke!!
Donna Ewing is the former president of the Hooved Animal Humane Society fired in 2001 when accused
of helping herself to HAHS funds for her own personal use. Currently Donna is the founder and
president of the Hooved Animal Rescue and Protective Society (HARPS).
"More slaughter plants should be strategically located throughout the United States to reduce transport
time for horses so destined and humanely speed the inevitable end to their lives."
"Something must be done, and to use poison [refering to chemical euthanasia] to euthanize these animals
and to waste that protein when we have cats and dogs and uh, we have..the animals on the zoos. This meat
should be used."
Dean Solomon, Seattle, Washington
An unethical animal hoarder who had over 100 horses stashed in various locations around Seattle -- after
she lost her property -- has finally been formally charged with 4 counts of 2nd degree animal cruelty.
Dean ran a fake rescue called CBER for her own profit. The horses that people paid to rescue that
most likely went to slaughter anyway, and the horses Dean surrendered that were in such poor shape
they had to be euthanized. She will eat better in jail than those poor horses.
